This mural was the product of Liverpool sculptor Arthur Dooley.
The mural displays Liverpool as a mother figure cradling The Beatles, portrayed as cherubs (made from plastic dolls painted gold) in her arms.
To the right right of the mural, a small figure carries a guitar and is surrounded by a halo saying “Lennon Lives”. This was placed there after the assassination of John Lennon in 1980. Beneath this is a small plaque with the lyrics to Lennon’s 1971 hit “Imagine.”
Cavern City Tours renovated the statue in in 1995.
